Cosmic Cycles and Musical Harmonics in Esoteric Astrology

cosmic cycle of creation: marked by the birth and development of the Universe;

Figure 7: The harmonic succession with the relative polygon formed by the nodes of the wave once the ends of the string are joined

• an annual cycle of the stars: marked by Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter;
• a daily cycle of the Sun: determined by Dawn, Noon, Sunset, Midnight;
• a cycle of human life: distinguished by Birth, Maturity, Death and life in the Afterlife.

According to the theorem presented in the first part of this article, any excitation of a circular structure can be decomposed into harmonics and the normal modes of such decomposition have a frequency that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency. Thus, an important event in the cycle of a life, a year or a day produces an excitation, a variation with respect to the static repetition of the cycle. This excitation will produce repercussions that will follow the laws of musical harmony which coincide with the laws of Initiatic Astrology known for thousands of years. In this article we will analyze the phenomenon, which has concrete applications both in the analysis of common phenomena or ordinary life, and in the determination of special events of initiatic life, through what we will indicate as Mysteric Astrology.

Zodiac, harmonics and planetary aspects
The Zodiac is indicatively that band of celestial influence of about 18° of latitude in which the planets move. The geo-solar origin of this band makes it absolutely independent of the stellar constellations that for historical and cultural reasons have the same name as the Zodiacal Signs, but which are completely distinct from them, these remaining a characteristic phenomenon of the Solar System. The motion of the planets and that of the Sun appears, relative to Earth, to flow on a single circle called the ecliptic. Thus, in classical Astrology there is generally a tendency not to consider the latitude of the planets as relevant and to simply transmit the longitude to analyze their influences for a precise specific point on Earth.

In Esoteric Astrology, each astronomical celestial body corresponds to an energetic body, dominated by a Planetary Spirit on which can act an Angelic or Demonic influence depending on the contingent conditions. Esoteric astrology attributes the same characteristics to Earth which is a single living being endowed with its own soul, called by the Christian-Sophianic tradition Soul of the World, in which can be felt the influence of Sophia, divine Wisdom, or of Satan, the telluric-demonic forces. Physical planets act on physical bodies through gravitational, magnetic fields, etc., but Planetary Spirits act on the psyches of individuals inclining them alternately to vice or virtue. Each planet therefore has its own variable influence dependent on its position or longitude in the Zodiac and generally acts independently of other planets. However, when the angular interval between two planets reaches specific degrees handed down by astrological tradition, the two planets are said to be in aspect and can no longer be considered independent, but with joint action.

The major planetary aspects of ancient astrological tradition are: 0° or conjunction; 180° for opposition; 120° for trine; 90° for square; 60° for sextile. To these is added the Keplerian aspect of 72° or quintile. Analysis of Figure 8 will quickly make clear how these degrees are not arbitrary, but constitute the main resonance harmonics of a planet. As in the case of the violin string and musical harmonics, obtained by drawing polygons on the circumference obtained by rejoining the ends of the string, in the same way planets, when they enter certain angular distances corresponding to regular geometric polygons, enter into resonance with each other and operate an energy transfer from one to another. As in the mechanical case, also in the astrological case the effects of such energy transfer will depend on:

Figure 8: Representation of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th harmonic in the Zodiac, corresponding to the astrological aspects of conjunction, opposition (1/2 of the circumference or 180°), trine (1/3 or 120°), square (1/4 or 90°), quintile (1/5 or 72°) and sextile (1/6 or 60°).

Figure 9: Beat phenomenon due to the sum of two wave phenomena of distinct frequencies $f_1$ and $f_2$. The resulting frequencies are $f_S = (f_1 - f_2)$ and $f_R = (f_1 + f_2)/2$. The beat phenomenon is mathematically originated by the cosine addition formula whereby $$\cos(\alpha) + \cos(\beta) = 2\cos\left(\frac{\alpha+\beta}{2}\right)\cos\left(\frac{\alpha-\beta}{2}\right)$$

• the harmonic or disharmonic nature of the two planets, that is, from their respective natural qualities;
• the strength of the individual planet, or rather from its essential dignity;
• the respective position
