Understanding the Age of Aquarius: Astrological Calculations and Historical Correlations

Sign of Aquarius, based on cosmographic reasons, if the thesis that the Constellation of Aries is a center of stellar forces fundamental to zodiacal influences is valid. If this were not the case, the calculable phenomenon of Precession would still remain valid, but without any connection to the stars of Aries, and it would be vain to speak of Zodiacal Eras. We know, however, through astronomical science and astrosophical (that is, Initiatic) means, that the Eras are a reality and that we are in the cosmic insertion of Pisces and Aquarius. The statement that we are also in the Era of the Sign of Aquarius rests on the demonstrations we will give. The first, that is the sidereal Era of Pisces, has already been demonstrated. We continue with the investigation on Aquarius. [...] Which stars of Aries must we take as reference points to know by how many degrees the vernal point and the entire rational or Tropical Zodiac has moved? Here they are: the stars of Aries closest to $0°$ of the Sign of Aries can be: gamma Arietis or Mesartim, currently (March 21, 1975) at $2° 48'$ of Taurus; this star is located in the ear of Aries turned toward Pisces. The brightest stars on the horns of the ram, in order of distance from $0°$ or $360°$, are: beta (β) Arietis or Sheratan, at $3° 36'$ of the Sign of Taurus; then moving further away from $0°$, we find alpha (α) Arietis or Hamal, at the geocentric longitude of $7° 18'$ of the Sign of Aries. If we measure the angle between $3° 36'$ of Taurus (currently occupied by the star Sheratan) and the vernal point retrograded over the centuries, we find an angle of $33° 36'$. Let us imagine for a moment a disk with the Zodiac of Constellations drawn on it, divided into 12 sectors of $30°$ each, arranged according to astronomical order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc. We place the star Sheratan on $0°$ of Aries. We apply a second graduated disk of $30°$ by $30°$, with the 12 Signs like the first, but smaller and concentric. We fix a pivot (pin, nail) at the center of the two zodiacs, to have perfect rotation. Then, we make $0°$ of the Sign of Aries (small disk) coincide with that of the Constellations (large disk). Then we rotate it by $33° 36'$ against the order of the Signs (Aries, Pisces, Aquarius, etc.) in accordance with precession and we will coincide with $26° 24'$ of Aquarius on the right, while, on the left, this second zodiacal disk will stop at $3° 36'$ of Taurus - the current position of beta star of Aries, or Sheratan. Since Pisces has been surpassed in retrograde direction toward Aquarius by $3° 36'$, this quantity transformed into precessional time is 259 years before 1975, or $1975 - 259 = $ year 1716. Finding the Equinox straddling between $0°$ of Pisces and $30°$ of Aquarius, we must consider the Era of Aquarius when the Equinox has reached $29°$ of Aquarius, so we find ourselves in 1788-1789 with the taking of the Bastille in Paris and the French Revolution in 1793; the rise to power of Napoleon Bonaparte, with the events that followed, his fall and death in 1821; the revolutionary beginning of Giuseppe Mazzini and Freemasonry in 1848 and of Karl Marx and Engels for Communism. In the field of music, the Era of Aquarius sees the genius of Beethoven and Richard Wagner, of Goethe for literature and natural sciences. With the beginning of this dramatic Era, the First World War of 1915-18 breaks out and Lenin's Bolshevik revolution in Russia, then the Second War in 1940 and the horrors of the extermination camps of Buchenwald and Dachau from 1933 to 1945. We have the collapse of Hitler and Mussolini, the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Then all the discoveries and inventions, from the beginning of Aquarius to today: hot air balloon, steam engine, dynamo, electric motor, photography, telephone, radio, television, aviation, rocketry, astronautic travel, moon landing, etc. All this after just a few precessional degrees in Aquarius! What will happen next? It is not simple to formulate predictions. We know that Aquarius brings fraternity and anarchy, revolution and counter-revolution, friendship, advanced scientific research and tormented search for God, collectivism and effort of self-overcoming. Aquarius is in tune with Uranus and Saturn: Uranus stimulates progress, evolution, intuition, creation, invention, sudden, unexpected change, repeated shock, thirst for originality, a restless and unregulated life, the spread of astrological, psychological, metapsychic studies, experimental occultism, psychological analysis, the exploitation of atomic energy. Uranus predisposes to cancer and neuroses. Saturn provokes the clash of communist capitalism and anti-communist capitalism, the clash between materialists and believers.
