Initiatic Astrology: Transcending Ordinary Prediction Through Sacred Meditation
If the ordinary and specialized astrologer limits himself to prediction, the astrologer of the Initiatic path goes beyond, in the sense of utilizing awakening techniques, concentration of thought on the planets of the Macrocosm and those of the Microcosm during the favorable stellar season; he is like the worker bee that prepares honey in spring, so that reserves are available in winter. [Quad 21] Therefore, two paths are indicated: one is through concentration on the planets of the Macrocosm and one on the planets of the Microcosm during the favorable season.
The Favorable Season
This is a fundamental element because the favorable astrological moment does not allow operation in a malignant sense. Prayer is also called deep concentration on a point, meditation on a planet, a star, a Zodiac Sign, projecting ourselves beyond until reaching the angelic light of the benefic Entity when astrological times are benefic and do not allow operation in a malignant sense, neither the stars nor the Entities of perversity. Only thus is it possible to free oneself from a bad horoscope, transmute oneself, become receptive by virtue of anthropocosmic resonance and walk with God. Then in this book Tommaso Palamidessi provides all the methods to find those principal favorable periods.
Macrocosmic Planets
Once the favorable period is found, it is then possible to proceed in two fundamental ways: either through direct meditation on the virtue and entity corresponding to a particular star using the physical star as a meditation support, or in a perhaps simpler way by concentrating, by virtue of the law of resonance, on what are the microcosmic or inner planets, that is, developing those faculties that are in relation with certain planets.
By meditating on the Macrocosmic planet or center of consciousness at the moment when influences are benefic, the individual frees himself from the malefic aspect of the planet and passes safely through that sphere, stripping himself of the demonic snare that corresponds to it:
- Moon: passing through harmony abandons the power to grow or diminish (thus acquires stability or fixity)
- Mercury: abandons the machinations of demonic cunning now rendered powerless
- Venus: abandons the deception of concupiscence now rendered powerless
- Sun: abandons the pride of dominion emptied of its ambition
- Mars: abandons impious audacity and the temerity of impulsive desire
- Jupiter: abandons the evil appetites for wealth now rendered powerless
- Saturn: abandons the lie that kills
Microcosmic Planets
The prophets taught to meditate, that is, to tune our mind with another mind, like two strings of a harp, to change our inner nature and overcome the stars when they are perverse and allow the anti-human action of evil entities. It is of meditation that Saint Paul meant to speak with the phrase "prayers" to benefic entities against adverse powers. The ascetic techniques of purification establish contact between our psychic "Centers of force" and the solar system in its metaphysical aspect.
In general, one proceeds by distinguishing the type of faculty one intends to develop according to a ternary division:
- Spirit - Will
- Soul - Intelligence
- Eros - Love
In relation to the development of the frontal center for the development of intuition: Uranus, Neptune, the Sun and Moon, good aspects between Mercury, Moon and Neptune. Moon and Neptune in angular houses or in third and ninth houses for prophecy: Uranus in Sagittarius, Aquarius or Pisces.
Example
A practical example of how to use Astrology for Ascetic purposes: I urgently needed a bath of Light. Observing the ephemerides to seek an effective Lunation, I noticed that a few days after the Sun's Ingress into Aries there would be the conjunction between the Sun and Moon, on March 23 of that 1974 at 9 hours 24 minutes p.m. Greenwich time, and a few days later, on April 2, the Moon would be at Perigee, that is, at maximum proximity to Earth.
Indeed the Lunation was already accelerating, a sign that it was approaching Earth, not to mention that on March 21, with the Sun's Ingress into Aries, my Jupiter returned to its natal position at $2°57'$ Pisces, conjunct natal Mercury and transiting Mercury and Moon. To all this was added the cyclical return of Saturn at $28°13'$ Gemini in trine to natal Jupiter in its cyclical return.
Therefore the moment, if you observe the present celestial chart and the natal one of Table 2, could not have been better, even if disturbed by some secondary dissonances. The cyclical return of Jupiter and Mercury coincided with the natal stars Fomalhaut at $2°40'$ Pisces (in the throat of the Southern Fish), nature of Venus and Mercury, of first magnitude, whose influence is powerful for good fortune and spiritual studies. This star, when in conjunction with Jupiter, indicates high position in initiatic fraternities, occult priesthood.
To this star was also joined Sodalmelik at $2°10'$ of the Sign of Pisces, on the shoulder of the "Water Bearer," nature of Saturn and Mercury, of 3rd magnitude, general influence highly favorable to psychism, philosophy and occult sciences. Therefore I prepared myself for theurgical rites, deep meditation to receive a message, help from the Cosmogonic Entities of Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury.
The preparation, although summary (it should last 40 days: silence, partial and vegetarian fasting, rhythmic breathing entirely similar to what was already written in another notebook, Eucharistic Communion), gave surprising results: the Wind bearing Light, Love, Hope with Sophia, created Wisdom, arrived impetuous and burning.
On May 14 and 22 of the same year 1974 in Rome, the two Sophianic apparitions and revelations were recorded, as much as was permitted to communicate to others, in two summaries in verse. From those moments, inspirations and intuitions followed one after another and gave the energies to write some important works: The Foundations of Sophianic Theology; Treatise on Music and Archeosophic Melurgy; Artistic Ascesis, colors and painting. I believe that this notebook on Initiatic Astrology is also the consequence of that much-desired bath of Light.
