Spiritual Numerology: The Sacred Significance of Numbers 7 and 12

What is important to understand is this fundamental aspect: these 4 forces refer to: 1. Divine Powers outside time and space 2. Cosmic Powers living in the Cosmos that shape the Universe 3. The essence of the 4 physical elements that are the basis of the exterior Kingdoms of Nature 4. Spiritual forces present in Man. In particular, in Man these forces correspond to the 4 verbs: To Will, To Know, To Dare, To Be Silent.

The Pythagorean number $12$ of Space and $7$ number of time. The repetition of these aspects or forces or elements on each of the three aspects of Man (Will, Intellect and Love) give birth to the 12 signs of the Zodiac and the symbolism of Number 12. Number 12 is the perfect number for Redemption and Intelligence of Light. We will see this better also in the first lesson on geometric symbolism. It is a solar symbol associated with the complete manifestation of the Sun, in particular 12 is always seen as perfect manifestation of 1, in this sense it is also the symbol of the perfect Cosmos. Of the Archetypal Cosmos, of Wisdom, as well as of the Divine life that flows in Men through Christ.

As we will see in one of the last lessons on the Apocalypse, at the center of the Celestial Jerusalem there is the Tree of Life that symbolizes Christ and in this tree there are 12 fruits that are the 12 centers or ways in which divine life flows from God into Man making him partake of the Eternal Wisdom that had been predestined for his Glory before the Ages, that is, Archeosophy.

For us, however, it is important to understand well the relationship that exists between 7 and 12. Both these numbers are governed by 4 and 3. But $7 = 3 + 4$ refers to the seven planets, to the measure of time, to an instantaneous vertical action, to the chromatic decomposition of light therefore to the set of Divine qualities that are reflected in cosmic Man and then in individual Man. Conversely, $12 = 3 \times 4$ refers to a horizontal action, it is the number of space, therefore to the reception of this light that occurs through 12 fundamental phases.

So 7 refers to divine and angelic action (for example the 7 archangels who spread divine virtues on earth). An example of 7 is represented by the Rainbow, alliance between heaven and earth. The 7 colors the 7 virtues and fundamental qualities the 7 archangels of which we will speak abundantly in a specific lesson of the course on the symbolism of colors. while conversely 12 refers to the reception by Man of this divine action that transmutes him until he becomes perfect. For this reason 12 has become a symbol of the celestial Jerusalem as well as of Wisdom or the completion of creation through the assumption of the uncreated principle.
