Metaphysical Aspects of the Holy Grail: Trinity Mystery and Divine Communion

The chalice was kept in Jerusalem in the first church of Saint James the Less, and disappeared again. Small cups that surrounded it were distributed to other churches. The book of visions by Emmerich further states that one of these small cups (seven in total) was brought to Antioch, and another to Ephesus. In short, each of the seven churches had its small cup. These visions suggest a grail knowledge of German mysticism. However, the historical reconstruction of the relic is not the subject of Palamidessi's main interest, who essentially wants to clarify the metaphysical and mystery aspect of Christian character of the Grail. METAPHYSICAL GRAIL In the main Grail romances we always have a Lance and a Grail. At the same time we have a Wounded King and a Grail procession that is served to the Father of the Wounded King, a Grail liturgy in a spiritual Palace and a final vision of the unveiled Grail. Similarly there are two interconnected questions that result from the quest: "Why does the Lance bleed (which we know will bleed until the Universal Judgment)?" and "Whom does the Grail serve (which we will later discover serves the father of the Fisher King)?". Therefore it is evident that two themes are intimately connected and linked together. What is their interpretation? The Grail essentially wants to be Christ tortured and died for men, and the vessel of the Last Supper, preceding his death, that is, the divine grace granted by Christ to his initiated disciples. The Grail is the chalice of the mass that collects the true blood of the Savior. According to the symbolism of the three planes, the table on which the vessel is placed is the stone of the Holy Sepulcher, the table of the Twelve Apostles, and the altar destined for daily sacrifice. [...] the Crucifixion, the Supper, the Eucharist: three inseparable realities. The Grail ceremony is the revelation of these three realities, which in communion give not only transcendent and immanent knowledge of the person of Christ, but symbolic and real participation in his saving Sacrifice. Therefore the Wounded King (Pellehan) is the symbol of Christ (Pelican) tortured and died for men. The Grail is Christ himself as well as the Divine Grace granted by Christ to the Initiates. The Crucifixion, the Supper and the Eucharist are essentially linked together and constitute communion with Christ as man and as God together with participation in his sacrifice. The Grail is PARTICIPATION IN THE SAVING SACRIFICE which on one side is lived: • as the WOUND of the Wounded King and therefore the bleeding lance that will continue to bleed until the day of universal judgment, the IMMANENT GRAIL MYSTERY is Christ present in the hearts of men to save them and therefore wounded. • On the other side however it is also SERVICE to God's inner life, the true TRANSCENDENT GRAIL MYSTERY, the one to whom the Grail is served (the Father of the Wounded King). The Son or Wounded King is Christ in his immanent aspect in creation, the Father of the Wounded King is the transcendent Christ and is the one to whom the Grail is served. So we have a Grail procession, then a Grail liturgy and finally a final and complete vision of the Grail that represent three times of the revelation of this divine Mystery. But what is this Mystery? The Mystery spoken of and which is the most sublime Mystery of the entire spiritual and initiatic life of a person is the Mystery of the Trinity. Man, says the Bible, is made in the image and likeness of the Trinity. That is, while being one, he is nonetheless Triune in his interiority, he is endowed with Power, Wisdom and Love, that is, he has: • a volitional part that can be called spiritual, • an intellective part that we could call soul or moral and • a dynamic that we could call erotic. These three aspects of Man can be so purified as to be able to live - through Christ - the Mystery of the Grail, that is, communion with the Trinity no longer Human, but Divine. $$\begin{array}{|c|c|c|c|c|c|c|c|} \hline \text{GOD} & \text{IS} & \text{CONSECRATED MAN} & \text{AUTHORITY} & \text{EXERCISES} & \text{SYMBOL} & \text{RITE} & \text{PHILOSOPHY} & \text{4 VERBS} \\ \hline \text{Father} & \text{Omnipotent} & \text{Spirit} & \text{King} & \text{Governs} & \text{Empire} & \text{Lance} & \text{Grace} & \text{Good} & \text{To Will} \\ \hline \text{Son} & \text{Omniscient} & \text{Soul} & \text{Prophet} & \text{Teaches} & \text{Magisterium} & \text{Sword} & \text{Host} & \text{True} & \text{To Dare} \\ \hline \text{Mother} & \text{Omnilove} & \text{Eros} & \text{Priest} & \text{Sanctifies} & \text{Ministry} & \text{Cup} & \text{Cup} & \text{Beautiful} & \text{To Know} \\ \hline \text{Kingdom} & \text{Perfection} & \text{Body} & \text{Warrior} & \text{Obeys} & \text{Service} & \text{Plate} & \text{Lands} & \text{Just} & \text{To Keep Silent} \\ \hline \end{array}$$ The Mystery of continuity on the higher planes of the Holy Grail, can be said to have always existed since the earth and humanity needed it. It serves to establish harmony, welding, adhesion of the trinity in man with the Divine Trinity. Every individual is composed of spirit, emotional soul and eros, all united in the Ego. God is One and Triune, in the sense that he is Father, Word or Son and Holy Spirit or Divine Mother. In the Mystery of the Holy Grail, the Chalice or Cup represents the Holy Spirit or Divine Maternity, the Divine Presence, the kabbalistic Sheckinah. [...] Inside the Cup, that is, in the Holy Spirit, there is Christ. In this marvelous symbolism and supersensible reality [...] we also have Grace that descends into the cup as a ray of the Father to refresh and purify his Knights. Here is the wonderful Mystery of the Holy Grail, the Invisible Temple, the House of the Holy Spirit and of Christ in Unity with the Father, here is the true Temple, the hidden Sanctuary of Prester John, the Ekklesia invisible to exoteric spirituals, but visible and participatable to those who know how to become brothers of the Knights, of the twelve who guard and celebrate the holy rite in the Cosmos.
