The Agonic State and Encounter with Perpetual Clear Light
The dying pass through fundamental stages in the agonic phase and immediately after death in the subsequent $3$, $7$ and $49$ days that are fundamental for the soul's future destiny. This is coherent with all Eastern and Western traditions that prescribe funeral rites to help the dying person's journey to the afterlife, but particularly with the Western and Eastern Catholic Christian tradition that prescribes a series of masses and funeral rites immediately after death and in the subsequent $40$ days. Let us try to see in a very synthetic way some of these passages that the dying person must traverse to understand some important aspects and some possibilities of salvation. AGONIC STATE First of all, the dying person's struggle begins in the state called precisely agonic. The agonic moment is not only a moment of physical struggle, but is also a moment of psychic struggle in which demonic temptations alternate with angelic inspirations. These temptations and inspirations are not only present at the moment of death, they are present every day of life if one studies them, but at the moment of death they are not only stronger and more imposing because of the individual's receptivity in this very delicate moment, but are also difficult to moderate because the individual finds themselves forced to face them without being able to postpone to another moment. In some way, all the $9$ doubts or personal temptations, but simultaneously also those of all others, come to the surface at the moment of death. Those who have had the opportunity to assist dying people may have seen these temptations and inspirations at work, sometimes even in contrast with the dying person's ordinary character. • temptation of the DEMON AGAINST FAITH: essentially suggests having lived in vain, not having lived life better or in any case tries to instill the temptation of doubt. Inspiration of the good ANGEL OF FAITH: act of faith. reconfirm your Creed in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. • temptation of the DEMON OF DESPAIR: presents past and forgotten sins to make them despair of salvation. Inspiration of the ANGEL OF HOPE: repentance and trust in divine mercy. Conversion of the heart and sacrifice of Christ. God is Love. • temptation of the DEMON OF IMPATIENCE: no one cares about you, insensitivity toward others' sacrifice, inability to accept pains and sufferings of death. Inspiration of the good ANGEL OF PATIENCE: strength in bearing sadness and dejection and pains of death. • temptation of the DEMON OF VAINGLORY: presuming to be better than others and deserving salvation and recognition. Inspiration of the good ANGEL OF HUMILITY: faith, hope and salvation are a free gift from God and not personal merit. • temptation of the DEMON OF AVARICE: squandering of one's possessions by others, attachment to earthly things. Inspiration of the ANGEL OF DETACHMENT: love toward God and not toward earthly things. • temptation of the DEMON OF SLEEP: suggestions to sleep, rest, lose consciousness and not pray. Inspirations of the good ANGEL OF PERPETUAL VIGIL: Watch so as not to sleep, keep yourself ready to meet the Lord, to recognize the splendor of his clear Light in the thick darkness of the abyss. The wise one watches for Eternity. ENCOUNTER WITH THE PERPETUAL CLEAR LIGHT At the moment of death what happens is that man's vital principle and intellective principle withdraw from the places where they were anchored. The individual experiences some fundamental phases and states that are described here: first feels the earth sink, then feels the vital energies withdraw, the last breath ceases, but this last breath does not constitute the end of the diabasic process because the vital principle and the intellective one reunite in the heart thus causing a phenomenon that is generally experienced only by ecstatics and which is that of the Interior Light of consciousness in which Christ's Light makes itself felt. This is because the heart is a special point where this Light can be experienced. This is a fundamental point in the death process because the dying person has an incredible possibility which is that of leaving everything and fixing themselves in this Perpetual Light. If this happens, consciousness has the opportunity to unite eternally with Christ's consciousness. There are however some problems both in recognizing this light which does not always happen, and also in the ability to fix oneself in this state while maintaining waking consciousness. It seems that one of the fundamental problems is the inability to fix consciousness in this somewhat disorienting and too elevated state. The key word is "ONE CAN" - it is not said that this happens. Van Lommel's statistics suggest that $1$ in $4$ have this vision. This is not necessarily due to the fact that this does not happen but to the difficulty of being able to recognize it and fix oneself in it. For this reason, at the moment of death a helper can suggest a prayer to the dying person to facilitate the recognition of this light and fixation in this state. The time has come for you to enter Eternal Life. Your breath is about to cease. I place you before the Clear Light of Christ. You will know it now in its reality, in the passing where all things appear free and transparent like the serene sky and where the spotless intelligence, pure intelligence has neither circumference nor center. In this instant know yourself for what you are in essence: a Child of Light. Remain in this state. [...]p265-266 Child of Light (Name and Surname)! Pay attention to nothing other than the perpetual Clear Light that will appear to you in the twilight glow of the beyond. Recognize it as the perennial Light of Christ, enter into it, walk in it, do not turn around, think of nothing other than this Light with Faith, Hope and Love. A repentant heart, a will stretched toward the perpetual Light, an infinite and radiating love, will make you go beyond, and you will not be touched even by the fire of Purgatory.
