Sacred Numbers and Geometry: Esoteric Mathematics and Spiritual Consciousness
...solar cycle, solar doctrine, the Sacrifice of Christ and thus the doctrine of resurrection etc... If I say I am $5$ years old, for example, it doesn't mean one is a child but instead I connect to the symbolism of $5$ - the dominion of spirit over matter, the awakening of spirit, Light and the doctrine of Light, etc... Numbers therefore in their exoteric aspect are perceived as quantities but in their esoteric and metaphysical aspect they refer to qualities and absolute philosophical ideas. ARITHMETIC therefore represents a perfect symbolic language to communicate and transmit spiritual qualities or realities. Even more important are Geometries. Indeed, geometric figures, while fixing attention on something that is formal, are however abstract and thus perfect and free from any form of corruption. This is important because when an individual enters a state of receptivity and imprints a symbol in consciousness, they must be sure that this symbol is pure from any contamination and doesn't awaken degenerate and corrupt forces instead of pure and ideal forces. Geometry has always been the means to ensure the insertion of pure forces or qualities into consciousness (think of YantraYoga).
WHAT IS FOUND IN THE BOOK
How is this book structured? This book is structured essentially in four distinct parts:
- a first PHILOSOPHICAL part,
- a second ARITHMETIC part on the meaning of numbers,
- a third part dedicated entirely to GEOMETRY both plane and solid and thus to form and the power of numbers in their action on consciousness
- a fourth KABBALISTIC or theurgical part.
In the PHILOSOPHICAL part, the fundamental point is the introduction to the concepts of numbers as transcendent, non-deducible spiritual entities or realities. They are not phenomena, they are connected with the deep characteristic of ESSENCES, not with phenomena and thus are the only instrument that Man has to act no longer only on phenomena and therefore with secondary Causes, but to establish relationship with primary Causes. Hence all the importance of mathematics in the spiritual life of the Initiate.
ARITHMETIC: most books that deal with the symbolism of numbers and the action of numbers in modern times deal mainly with the meaning of numbers in a symbolic, philosophical and -sometimes- but rarely magical sense. This book conversely is one of the few books that deals with the spirituality of sacred numbers in a philosophical, mystical, mystery and initiatic sense.
Reading of number $4$ and commentary: This gives you an idea of how numbers are seen: in a way coherent with archaic tradition in which numbers were seen as entities not as notions or instruments devised by man. For example, here we speak of four as the guardian of the keys of nature.
With GEOMETRY we truly see the action of numbers in the individual's consciousness because if with arithmetic we see the meaning of numbers, with geometry instead we see the action of numbers and their form. Also in this case the book provides a brief dictionary of the most important plane and solid geometric figures, but it doesn't limit itself to this because the dictionary alone wouldn't be sufficient. It's true that a dictionary of solid geometric figures is very rare, but a dictionary by itself is not exhaustive. You also need a grammar that tells you how to develop discourse in this geometric language and this is what the book does.
To give an idea of the action of geometry on consciousness and this mystical aspect of geometric figures (which can be added to the philosophical, mystery and initiatic one)...
